I love paper piecing...Spellbinders Fountain Wishes
Share
Crafting with metal dies and paper piecing is one my favorite things about paper crafting. However, sometimes paper piecing and cutting those tiny little layers/details can be frustrating. The puzzle piecing of assembling some of the layers can also take a bit of sorting out too, but in the end I am always ecstatic with my finished result. Are you? I used Spellbinders adorable Fountain Wishes Die set to make the video.
The cycle of die cutting, and the list below is not true for everyone. Plus, not all die sets are created equal.
But in general a die set with small detailed pieces can bring the most patient person to question their sanity.
- Ecstatic about the new dies and the creative possibilities
- Patiently picking papers for each piece
- Wondering if you are going to have to cut one time multiple times (this is a definite frustration)
- Die cutting the paper to conform to the shop, and hoping that the die doesn't slide off the paper (if not using low tack tape or magnetic cutting plate).
- Assembling the Puzzle by piecing the die cuts together before gluing them to make sure you have all the pieces and in the colors you want (recommended, and no I don't always do this, but definitely a best practice for sure)
- Gluing those tiny little pieces together and hoping one or two haven't escaped while you were assembling the final piece.
- Immense joy and pride, you did it, and it was definitely worth all the challenges, possible paper disasters, and drama you incurred.
- Receiving encouraging feedback and comments from your friends that you share your finished with.
- All is forgotten, rinse and repeat!
